In 2025, Brittney Douglas, founder of Speelyai Creek Retreat, discovered this rare and remarkable property while searching for her next chapter after a long and fulfilling career in hospitality. Just months earlier, in December 2024, Beaches restaurant- a beloved fixture in Vancouver for over 29 years- closed its doors, marking the end of an era.

From the moment Brittney stepped onto the property, she knew it was a place meant to be shared- a peaceful oasis tucked within the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Today, she brings the same warmth, attention to detail, and genuine care, that defined her years at Beaches, to every guest experience at Speelyai Creek Retreat.

When not working on guest experiences, you can find Brittney enjoying everything the great outdoors has to offer. Along with her husband and their three pups, they enjoy hiking, fishing, camping, hot springing, and working in their home gardens cultivating organic produce to harvest and preserve for year around nourishment.
